Next Generation Re-Targeting Successfully Held
We have an amazing evening with Mr. Ravel Lai, Group IT Director of Jardine Restaurant Group on Thursday night, 20th October 2016. It is without a doubt one of the highly memorable sharing we have had!
Speaking with real life examples and occasional humor, Ravel was able to captivate all our attention. He was able to engage with all our guests. Everyone was left with an up-beat mood knowing that Hong Kong is still a place for innovative marketeers. Beginning with an overview of digital marketing, Ravel re-visited the campaign he is heading where, between 2014 and 2015, he single handedly turn around the Pizza Hut loyalty program from negative growth to positive growth at a fraction of the cost of a traditional market program such as TV commercial. The success was not only about his ingenuity market sense and intuition in correctly predicting the behavior of his target customers but it also demonstrated his perseverance on what he believes in. He reminded us the important of the 3 right's, i.e. right target, right moment and right offer and revealed the secret of his success to all marketeers, "Think for the customers". On innovation, Ravel put it this way, many said he is thinking out-of-the-box, in reality, it is the box being too small for him! We can be certain we shall see more successful marketing ideas coming out of the Pizza Hut loyalty program in the coming months.
We are happy to see some new faces and new members that evening! Our sincere thanks to current KMDC members and Corporate members such as Census and Statistics Department and Tung Wah Hospital Group for their un-relentless support for coming to this sharing dinner. KMDC looks forwarding to meeting you in the next event. You can relive the events by click on here.

Creating and Sustaining Community of Practice at Huawei
After the fruitful knowledge exchange at the KMDC Annual Dinner in April, we would like to continue our quest on how a company could develop and create human capital. No ‘process or tool’ is near effective and powerful on our human Capital as building a ‘Community of Practice’. And there are not many international organizations that have shown strong commitment and achieved well-recognized successes in building CoPs as Huawei. It is, therefore, our great delight to have Mr William Liang, Knowledge Management Manager at Huawei, to share with us on the topic,‘Ignite the Trend!’. In this talk, he will showcase his valuable and highly practical experience and techniques on CoP management.
William’s talk will cover: The reasons behind creating a Community of Practice (CoP) and how it relates to the business objective and operations; the reasons why there is a sentiment of lack of participation in many CoPs; and how we can stimulate activities and achieve a branding effect for a CoP

WILLIAM LIANG
|
Mr William Liang is Huawei's first knowledge management level-6 expert, currently the highest level among Huawei KM experts. He has 9 years of Huawei research and development experience, 7 years of R&D management experience, as well as 4 years of experience in community operations. He is the Practice Owner of Huawei CoP.
William is a leader of community ‘Hardware Garden’, which is the most reputable community at Huawei. The community is connected to the 17,000 employees of hardware R&D, focusing on business strategy, and organizing many high-quality community activities. His works support business and at the same time also promote community maturity to maintain high speed development.
William has, for 3 consecutive years, won the Huawei knowledge management major awards, and at present the community that he leads ranks No.1 among Huawei 8000+ communities. With good grasp of industry trends, insight into the psychology of employees and well-planned community events, William fosters a strong sense of CoP participation from Huawei employees.

To start the new year of 2015, KMDC is organizing a dinner gathering on Thursday, 5th February 2015 when we can share our past year knowledge management experience and activities.
In this evening, we will have Mr. Qiu Mingfeng (邱明丰), Director, R&D Management Department of Tencent, China and Mr. Anthony Mak, Senior Statistician, Census & Statistical Department, HKSAR as our guest speakers.
Founded in November, 1998, Tencent has grown into one of China's largest and most used Internet service portal. Since its establishment over the last decade, Tencent has maintained steady growth under its user-oriented operating strategies. On 16 June, 2004, Tencent Holdings Limited (SEHK 700) went public on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. It is Tencent's mission to enhance the quality of human life through Internet services. As of 31 Dec, 2012, the active QQ users accounts for QQ IM amounted to 798.2 million while its peak concurrent users reached 176.4 million. The development of Tencent has profoundly influenced the ways hundreds of millions of Internet users communicate with one another as well as their lifestyles.’ (Source: Click here ). In order to meet this mission, Tencent engages Knowledge Management as one of the key management strategies for the company. Hence, we are excited to have Mr Qiu shares “The KM Journey of Tencent ” (知識管理分享) with us.
